Membership

IOCN is a membership organisation, what that means is that you will be able to share your experience/s your knowledge with the other members. We offer CPD and training, we have an internal mentor programme, but more importantly we offer a safe space to discuss and share with people who you don’t have to explain who you are, cos we get it

Our membership is open to qualified, trainee sign language interpreters and translators (deaf and hearing) and students on a recognised course who identify as a person of colour. Membership is open to sign language interpreters and translators from across Europe.

We are a large group from diverse backgrounds, including a large number of people who identify as mixed heritage, which is what makes us unique and strong.

Our ethos as an organisation is to create and maintain a safe space for people who may have experienced life as the ‘other’, a member of an ethnic minority in a Western, White society, or as a product of the legacy of colonialism, slavery and race politics.

If you have any questions about membership please email admin@interpretersofcolour.net. If you would like to become a member, please fill in our membership form at the bottom of this page or click here to open the form in a new window.

IOCN counts over 100 members from across Europe - and growing!
