About I have been a BSL/English interpreter for over 30 years. I began as a Communication Support Worker booked by the Centre for the Deaf at the City Literary Institute, London where I supported Deaf students in FE & HE across London. My transition into theatre interpreting work was by happenstance with Graeae, graduating from interpreting their workshops in the early 1990’s to undertaking national tours as the integrated interpreter/performer, which is how I got my equity membership. In 2023 I ran a pilot project at Rose Bruford, BSL Interpreting for Performance course. I believe that my LABAN contemporary dance, ILEA scholorship put me in good stead as a performance interpreter. Between 2003-2006 I was employed at the BBC as an In-Vision Interpreter, covering BBC news 24, and a host of programmes. I continued working in television broadcast (with a 1 year stint at SKY news) until 2014. Whilst my interest is primarily working in the arts including festivals and concerts, I also work extensively in mental health settings and consider myself competent working in all domains. A little more about me…An active member of Clapham Deaf Club since the age of 12, where I have undertaken a great deal of voluntary work – https://heyzine.com/flip-book/832d62bc96.htmlhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70AmTfgN4nchttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVFoNe_b2jI&t=10s
