About I have been working in and around the deaf community for over 20 years. I Qualified as a lipspeaker in 2003 and worked with people who predominantly lipread. I Later qualified as a BSL/English sign language interpreter which makes me feel that I have a strong sense of; ‘not one size of communication fitting all’. I believe that I have the ability to be flexible according to individual requirements. and I’d like to think of myself as someone who aims for a person-centred approach to all my work. I thoroughly enjoy CPD, so strive hard to keep abreast with current thinking and concepts related to my profession as well as relevant deaf community news. I have been told by both colleagues and clients that I am professional, friendly (with appropriate boundaries) empathetic and sensitive to offering a service which focuses on equity and respect for people’s autonomy. I’ve worked in a wide range of domains; however, medical, education, some areas within the legal arena, and theatre are my areas of interest. I have an enhanced DBS and recently acquired NPPV3 clearance (Non-Police Personnel Vetting – L3) I am a lipspeaker – BSL/English interpreter and also have strong SSE skills. Recent qualification: Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Advocacy in the Workplace
